Civilize Us
This song is about the residential schools in Canada and Native American Boarding Schools in the United States and for all of the children that didn't come home, former school survivors and their descendants. Daily more bodies are being discovered and more hearts need to heal. It is our intention with this song to aid in creating public awareness and to help in some small way to ease the suffering of the the many survivors and descendants living today.
Civilize Us - Residential and Native American Boarding School Song features: Paul Wyse-Seward and his family from Snuneymuxw Nation, who perform a traditional 'before contact' Snuneymuxw prayer song along with 3 year old Arthur Hawkins also of Snuneymuxw Nation who tells a local creation story.
We give special thanks to Snuneymuxw Nation for allowing us to use their traditional before contact prayer song for this sound recording.
